Academic Excellence Division
Lone Star College-Montgomery is dedicated to delivering quality educational resources to broaden and enrich the student experience. The Academic Excellence Division seeks to provide resources and opportunities that will allow students to excel and enhance their educational portfolio both in and out of the classroom. We are committed to providing student-focused services and supporting excellence in teaching.
Library
We offer access to the physical collection (books, DVDs, CDs, etc.), computer stations, item checkout, library cards (student/employee IDs), course reserves, study rooms, open study space, and more. Librarians are available to assist students with developing research skills and strategies, identifying resources needed for an assignment, and locating and using academic databases. We also offer faculty-specific services, such as information literacy instruction, course-specific resource guides, assignment collaboration, recommendations to the library, and putting items on course reserve. For more information, visit our LSC-Montgomery Library page.
Tutoring
We provide individualized and group-based, course-content-focused learning assistance for a broad selection of courses, including accounting, biology, business, chemistry, computing, English, ESOL, geology, languages, math, physics, and TSI test prep. Study resources available in the tutoring labs include textbooks, models, bones, digital microscopes, slides, rock samples, and free access to computers. While walk-ins are always welcome, we also offer both online and in-person appointments. For more information, visit our LSC-Montgomery Tutoring page.
Center for Civic Engagement (CCE)
We facilitate nonpartisan learning opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and community members to encourage them to become more engaged citizens. Our goal is to aid in the development of critical thinking, personal responsibility, and civil discourse skills in participants so that they develop a sense of urgency about issues and talk and act more in their communities, be it their classroom, campus, local, state, national, or global communities. For more information, visit our LSC-Montgomery Center for Civic Engagement page.
Undergraduate Research Institute (URI)
Our mission is to inspire and empower students and faculty through scholarly investigations in the arts, humanities, sciences, and social sciences. Our primary goal is to enable students to take an active role in developing and defining their educational experiences by collaborating with faculty to make original contributions to the academic discourse. We offer support for original research projects, including faculty research advisors, research resources, opportunities for publication and presentation, as well as student/faculty mini-grants. For more information, visit our Undergraduate Research Institute page.
One Book One Campus (OBOC)
The One Book, One Campus Program unites the students, staff, and faculty of LSC-Montgomery in a shared scholarly experience promoting intellectual growth and community through interdisciplinary conversation, events, and activities.
