HOUSTON (Sept. 11, 2026) – The Lone Star College-Montgomery Dental Assistant program provides students with a path toward a well-paying healthcare career.

“Dental assistants help patients feel comfortable during procedures,” said Dr. Angelica Senties Sanz Cerrada, dental assistant instructor. “They can enter the healthcare field quickly through short training programs and enjoy stable, predictable weekday work hours.”

The demand for dental assistants continues to grow. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of dental assistants is projected to grow 6% from 2024 to 2034, faster than the average for all occupations. The median annual wage for dental assistants in May 2024 was $47,300.

“Being a dental assistant can also become a career stepping stone. Those who complete the program and enter the workforce can gain hands-on experience before advancing to roles like a dental hygienist or office manager,” said Dr. Senties Sanz Cerrada.

The LSC-Montgomery Dental curriculum is a Non-Credit Fast Track program, with students earning a certification in as fast as 24 weeks, or six months, including clinical rotations with hands-on, in-person class experience.
