Community bond referendum forum April 2

How does the Lone Star College System’s $420 million bond referendum affect you? Find out at the community forum held at LSC-CyFair at 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 2.

LSC-CyFair President Dr. Diane Troyer will discuss the system’s $420 million bond referendum, which includes $95.5 million earmarked for LSC-CyFair classroom building, new satellite campus and traffic infrastructure, addition to student services, science lab renovations and more.

LSC is seeking voter approval in May to sell bonds for new facilities, instructional sites and infrastructure to accommodate an enrollment that has increased by 24,000 students since 2000 and is projected to reach 72,000 students by 2015. Already, each of the system’s five colleges -  CyFair, Kingwood, Montgomery, North Harris, and Tomball - have reached or exceeded the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s recommended levels of full capacity.

This forum at the Barker Cypress campus at 9191 Barker Cypress provides an opportunity for area residents to ask questions and collect pertinent information regarding the bond referendum. Community forums will also be held at LSC-Kingwood March 27, LSC-Tomball March 31, LSC-Montgomery April 8 and LSC-North Harris April 10.

Election day is Saturday, May 10.  Early voting will be held from April 28 through May 6. To make voting convenient for residents, early voting will be held at 24 sites and election day voting at 187 sites.
