Study Abroad scholarships due Nov. 14

How would you like explore the history and culture of China or Italy next year, while still earning college credit at Lone Star College-CyFair? Two Study Abroad choices are offered through “Learning Communities” which not only enhance the college experience, but transcripts and resumes as well.

Financial aid and scholarships are available. The scholarship deadline is Nov. 14, 2008. The deadline for applying to either program is March 1, 2009.

In May 2009, Professor Carolyn Ho will teach her Beginning Chinese I class with Professor Robert O’Brien’s World History I class at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China. With this study abroad opportunity, students will get the rare opportunity to experience the day-to-day life of the Chinese as well as fly to Beijing and visit some of the most famous sites such as Tiananmen Square and the Great Wall.

In June 2009, Professor Rob Coyle will teach his History of Western Civilization I class with Professor Buck Buchanan’s World Geography class at the Vesuvian Institute of the Restoring Ancient Stabiae Foundation in Castellammare di Stabia, Italy and Rome.  With this study abroad opportunity, students will be exploring ancient Roman culture and Europe’s most famous volcanoes.
