College’s Literary Magazine, SWIRL, Seeks Submissions for 13th Edition

SWIRL, Lone Star College-Montgomery’s student-run literary and arts publication, seeks submissions for the upcoming 13th edition of the award-winning publication. Submissions can include literature, poetry, prose (short stories, short non-fiction, short plays or scenes, screenplays, and creative essays. Art submissions, including drawings, paintings, sculptures, digital imagery and pottery are also welcome. Submissions will can be accepted from students, faculty, staff, and community members.

“If you write, do visual art, or are just generally artsy, the magazine is a great showcase for your work, and a venue for networking with other writers and artists,” said Cassandra Tomchik, LSC-Montgomery instructor in developmental English and one of the faculty sponsors for SWIRL. “Students, as well, can work behind the scenes putting the magazine together.”

Submitters should attach a high-resolution common image type of their choosing: .jpeg, .pdf, etc. They should submit a maximum of three submissions per person, per category. Submissions should be sent to swirl@LoneStar.edu and should include the submitter’s full name and phone number. The deadline for submissions is March 11, 2011. If the work is directly influenced by another work, bibliographic information about the original must be included. Submitters should briefly describe their work and provide a brief biographical statement.
