LSC-North Harris Professional Support Staff Association (PSSA) collects bicycles for students’ families

Lone Star College-North Harris Professional Support Staff Association (PSSA) recently collected more than 40 children’s bikes via a Holiday Bike Bash benefitting LSC-North Harris students with children.

PSSA hosts many events throughout the year to help the community, and the Holiday Bike Bash event was designed to assist not only the community, but specifically LSC-North Harris students, by making their holiday season a little brighter.

“PSSA recognizes that some of our students can benefit from additional assistance in certain areas of their lives, and we thought this would be one way to assist them,” said PSSA president, Deidre Taylor.

LSC-North Harris students had the opportunity to apply for assistance to receive a bike, for children between the ages of Pre-K through fifth grade, on a first come, first serve basis.

PSSA and LSC-North Harris employees made sure that this event was successful, by collecting more than 40 bikes, enough to accommodate every student who applied.

“I cannot say enough about the employees who supported this effort. The teamwork and commitment was just amazing! I’ve worked with Lone Star College for 33 years and I’ve seen some great moments, and I can say for sure this is one of my top ones. I am humbled to serve as PSSA president, and work with a great team of officers this year. I look forward to many more outstanding events in the future,” added Taylor.

PSSA will be distributing the bicycles to students this week, in time for the upcoming holidays.
