Published on: October 27, 2007The Cy-Fair College Choral Department presents “Kismet” an enchanted musical set Nov. 1 through Nov. 3 in the Main Stage Theatre.
“Kismet” is a fairy-tale story of one day in the life of Hajj, the poet-beggar, who gains wealth, avenges wrong done to his daughter, discovers new love and eventually triumphs over an evil Wazir to become an Emir of Baghdad.
“From the opulent palaces to the teeming bazaars to the lush, moonlight gardens - Kismet is filled with sensual dance and magical song including the famous ‘Stranger in Paradise’, ‘Baubles, Bangles and Beads’ as well as ‘This is My Beloved’,” said Alex Qian, Cy-Fair College associate music professor. “Set in the magnificent splendor of ancient Baghdad, Kismet embodies all the swirling excitement of the Arabian Nights with its colorful costumes.”
