What is the TSIA2 Exam?
The Texas Success Initiative (TSIA2) is a state legislated program designed to improve student success in college by requiring all students attending public institutions of higher education, unless considered TSIA2 Exempt, to complete assessment in reading, writing and mathematics before enrolling in classes. Preparing for assessments is encouraged since test scores determine course placement. Students scoring below college level readiness are required to enroll in developmental courses which do not apply towards a degree or certificate.

Lone Star College (LSC) allows employers, ISD/school districts, and outside organizations to pay for student tuition and fees through their Third Party Billing system. Sponsored billing requires an official authorization letter on company letterhead or voucher, and must be submitted to the campus Business/Bursar's Office before the first day of classes
Key Requirements
- Action Deadline: The Third-Party Agreement or Letter of Credit must be submitted prior to the start of the term to avoid being dropped for non-payment.
- Required Form: Students must complete and submit a Third Party Billing Agreement every term they are sponsored.
- Student Liability: Students remain personally responsible for any outstanding balances that their sponsor ultimately fails to pay.
- Financial Aid: Third-party payments may affect existing financial aid awards, potentially resulting in adjustments.
Dual Credit & Workforce Programs
- Dual Credit: High school students attending participating ISDs must submit their school's authorized agreement (such as a Dual Credit Third Party Billing Form) so LSC can directly invoice the school.
- Workforce Scholarships: Students enrolled in targeted college-credit workforce programs may qualify for third-party vendor-provided scholarships to cover tuition, books, and fees. Contact a local LSC Workforce Advisor in the Financial Aid Office to confirm eligibility.
For further inquiries or to submit paperwork, students can contact their local campus Cashier, Business, or Bursar Office.
How to Enroll:
- Log into your account on the myLoneStar Portal.
- Click the Student tile, then select the Financial Account tile.
- Navigate to Make Payments to open the payment processor, Nelnet.
- Select Manage Refunds or Enroll in Direct Deposit and securely enter your U.S. bank's routing and account numbers.
- Disbursement is when the Financial Aid Office transfers the anticipated aid for each semester to your student account. You'll receive an email when this occurs. For questions regarding disbursement, please see the Financial Aid Office.
- A refund is generated after all allowable institutional charges are deducted from your disbursement. It is sent via the original payment method, electronic refund profile, or paper check. Verify your address and refund profile are set up before refunds start. For questions regarding refunds, please see the Business Office. Refunds and disbursement don't occur on the same day.
Need Assistance? If you need help accessing your account, resetting your password, or setting up electronic refunds, you can contact the Nelnet Support line at 1-800-609-8056 or visit the Business/Cashier Office at your local LSC campus.
