Financial Aid for Swift Transfer (FAST) Program

Great news for Lone Star College dual credit students! House Bill 8, passed during the 88th Texas Legislative Session, created the Financial Aid for Swift Transfer (FAST) Program - and it could mean significant savings for you and your family.

What does FAST mean for you? If you qualify, you'll receive free dual credit education at Lone Star College System. Here's what's covered:

  • Zero tuition and fees for all eligible dual credit courses
  • Free textbooks and course materials through the STAR Bundle package. Please check with your ISD to see if your school participates in the STAR Bundle program.
  • No out-of-pocket expenses for your qualifying coursework

Who qualifies for FAST? To be eligible, students must meet ALL the following criteria.

  • The student is currently attending a Texas public school or open enrollment charter school in grades 9 through 12 during the semester that the student is enrolled in dual credit.
    • For summer dual credit courses, the student must have been enrolled in high school during the final six-week attendance period of the preceding spring.
  • The student is enrolled in an eligible dual credit course at Lone Star College System. The course must be part of LSCS’s dual credit partnership agreement with the school district.
  • The student is identified as educationally disadvantaged, either:
    • Based on prior year eligibility (as shown on the eligibility rosters), or
    • Based on current year eligibility (as determined by the school district).

Upon completion of all campus dual credit enrollments, Lone Star College System will work with the State Agencies to confirm your eligibility. Notification of eligibility will be communicated with your respective high school.
