Ensuring Equal Access for All

Lone Star College System is committed to creating inclusive digital environments that support all members of our community. In alignment with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, we are actively working to ensure that all digital content is accessible to individuals with disabilities.

Overview

Title II of the ADA prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability by public entities, including colleges and universities. Recent updates to federal regulations require that all digital content—such as websites, instructional materials, and mobile applications—meet the accessibility standards outlined in WCAG 2.1 Level AA. These standards ensure that individuals with disabilities can access and interact with digital content effectively.

The compliance deadline for these updates is April 26, 2026.

Institutional Commitment

Lone Star College System affirms its dedication to equity and inclusion through full compliance with ADA Title II. Our policies and procedures reflect this commitment:

  • A Board Policy on Digital Accessibility is being proposed and will serve as the foundation for compliance efforts.
  • Chancellor’s Procedures will be developed to provide detailed implementation guidance.
  • We strive to ensure that all students, employees, and community members have equal access to digital resources and services.
