College Credits are awarded for military training and experiences through the Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) program.  All veterans are required to undergo this assessment and are encouraged to contact a Veterans Advisor and begin this assessment prior to registration to prevent duplicating courses awarded through PLA.

Military training is evaluated by the American Council on Education (ACE).  This organization produces a transcript with credit recommendations.  The recommendations and course curriculum are evaluated by LSC faculty to determine the award of course credit.  Many courses have already been evaluated and approved by LSC faculty and can be found on the LSC Military Course Crosswalk below.  If an ACE recommended course has not been previously evaluated, LSC will provide a faculty evaluation. ACE recommendations do not guarantee course credit. 

Veterans can search the Military Course Crosswalk by military occupation to determine the courses they may be awarded. Veterans should contact LSC Veterans Services to begin the PLA process.

Students seeking credit for service in the United States Air Force use the regular transcript evaluation process, not PLA by ACE.

Exams

LSC accepts certain DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST) for credit.  Official exam score reports are required to receive credit and the student must request credit assessment through the external challenge exam process.  Please visit the PLA by External Challenge Exam web page for accepted DSSTs and minimum score requirements.
