With graduation fast-approaching, competition at the CHI Lone Star College-North Harris School of Cosmetology is heating up. Students in the school’s inaugural class are competing for two spots to be featured at the Armstrong McCall World’s Fair of Cosmetic Arts and Sciences on Sept. 8 and 9 in San Antonio, Texas.
The selected students will be on-stage with a featured hair artist and hair model for both days of the show. Their skills will be put to the test as they finish out an up-style on the model, and talk about the products being used for the final hairstyle, all in front of a live audience.
To aid in the selection, the CHI School is planning a student artist competition at Farouk Systems’ Pennbright Academy. Following their presentation, students will face a series of questions from a panel of judges comprised of Farouk Systems’ staff. The top two students will be chosen based on their presentation skills, artistic style and product knowledge.
In addition to the two featured student artists, other CHI School students will attend the event for a behind-the-scenes look at the cosmetology industry, including sales floor training, hairstyling and color techniques, and the opportunity to shadow artists during the classroom sessions for the hair show.
The CHI Lone Star College-North Harris School of Cosmetology is currently accepting applications for its full-time and part-time programs. A state-of-the-art facility, now under construction, is slated for completion later this year.
