CHI™ School of Cosmetology at Lone Star College-North Harris



The CHI™ School of Cosmetology at Lone Star College-North Harris offers three associate of applied science (AAS) degrees and certificate programs in three specialties.

  • AAS Cosmetology Operator
  • AAS Cosmetology Esthetician (Facial)
  • AAS Cosmetology Instructor
  • Cosmetology Operator Certificate (12-month program)

All three certificate programs are approved by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations. Upon successful completion of the program requirements, graduates are eligible to take their state exam. Upon passing their state exam, program graduates become licensed to practice in the state of Texas.

To Apply:
Due to limited availability of space, Cosmetology cohorts are limited to 25 students and 10 alternates.
All applicants must complete the Standard Cosmetology Entrance Application (SCEA) to be considered for the program.
Finalists for entrance into the program will be invited to an on campus interview session. Application deadlines are subject to change.
Important Note: Fall 2012 application deadline is midnight, March 5, 2012.

Our cosmetology courses are taught by seasoned faculty with significant experience as professional cosmetologists. They have also undergone specialized training at the Farouk Systems headquarters in north Houston and use the Farouk Systems methods, and the CHI™, Biosilk and Sunglitz product lines, exclusively, in the instruction of students.

Students will have an opportunity to develop cosmetology skills, including hair cutting, permanent waving, hair styling, manicuring, facials, hair coloring, hair-straightening and client consultation on hair care products. In addition, the school's full-service salon offers students a chance to practice their skills on clients from the community. A student enrolled in the instructor training portion of the associate of applied science  program earns the credentials to teach cosmetology.


The demand for cosmetology professionals in the Houston area has been strong. Graduates of the cosmetology certificate programs have many employment opportunities including becoming a hair dresser, skin care specialist, and make-up artist. Other areas may be to become a research assistant in the cosmetology industry, a sales representative for a beauty products, or a beauty editor for newspapers and magazines. Salaries vary depending upon the place of employment and the graduate
