Buckle your seatbelt and start a new lap at Lone Star College-Montgomery. Registration for spring 2018 opens Nov. 15.

The Zero to 60 mph initiative urges LSC-Montgomery students to register for at least 15 credit hours each semester to stay on track and graduate in two years.

“The Zero to 60 mph campaign puts students on a more intentional path they can navigate,” said Dr. Michael Chavez, vice president of student success at LSC-Montgomery. “It narrows down the typical cafeteria-style of registration by providing guidance and adding foresight to the process. Students can visualize the ‘racetrack,’ and clearly see how many classes they need to achieve their academic goals.”

LSC-Montgomery understands students have a lot to monitor on their dashboard: work, family and their education. That is why it is easy to tailor classes to fit each student’s unique schedule. Online classes allow work to be done at home, mini-mesters condense courses to fit when there is a break in the academic schedule, late start classes allow flexibility to start after the traditional school year and night classes keep days free.

Students are in the driver’s seat, but LSC-Montgomery counselors and advisors can help. They are available to meet with students Mondays and Tuesdays from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m., Wednesday through Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. or students can email them anytime at MC.Advising@lonestar.edu. They can help students create a career plan and talk about feasible ideas to complete at least 15 credit hours a semester.

It is easier than ever to meet with advisors. Current LSC-Montgomery students can attend Avoid the Stampede, an on-campus, express registration event on Wednesday, Nov. 15, and Thursday, Nov. 16 in the lobby of the General Academic Center (Bldg. G) and the atrium of the Health Science Center (Bldg. B) from 11 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on both days. Advisors, counselors, and faculty members will assist students in registering for the spring semester.

Students who register during the event will receive free pizza, t-shirts and be entered to win big prizes. Students are encouraged to make an appointment with their division advisor or counselor to review their degree plan before Avoid the Stampede.

Future students are also encouraged to apply for admission online as soon as possible to begin the enrollment process for the upcoming semesters.

Students may also search for classes and register online at LoneStar.edu/Registration.
