Eniana Memeti and Martha Dubon earned an associate of applied science in dental hygiene at LSC-Kingwood while earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Woman’s University.
Lone Star College-Kingwood recently celebrated students for earning a bachelor’s degree.
Martha Dubon and Eniana Memeti graduated with an associate of applied science in dental hygiene while earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Woman’s University (TWU). The students achieved their goals without leaving the Kingwood campus.
“This program is rigorous in the best of times. Earning these degrees during the COVID pandemic shows the students’ commitment to their education and the profession,” said Joanna Allaire, LSC-Kingwood dental hygiene director.
The partnership between LSC-Kingwood and Texas Woman’s University began in 2015; since then, 19 students have earned the two degrees. The program teaches future employees in the dental hygiene field a more professional mode of practice with higher educational expectations for critical thinking and decision-making abilities. These learning outcomes provide a solid base for careers in clinical practice, leadership, services, and education in an ever-evolving oral healthcare system.
“All TWU courses are completely online, the professors are focused on student success, and this program allows students some flexibility when scheduling classes,” Allaire said.
In the dual degree program, students can transfer up to 90 semester credit hours from Lone Star College to the TWU Bachelor of Science Dental Hygiene program., which includes hours in the dental hygiene program. Graduates can adapt to the ever-evolving oral healthcare system. They are qualified to work in various careers such as clinical practice, leadership, service, and education.
