The World Languages Team representative, Stephanie Krueger, has submitted a Core course proposal to add SPAN, FREN, CHIN, JAPN, ARAB, ITAL, GERM 1411 to the LSC Core in the Component Area Option (CAO) [090] area.

Course Description

This course includes beginner's punctuation, oral practice, conversation, development of listening comprehension, basic principles of grammar, simple exercises in composition, easy reading which includes cultural material.

College Level Readiness in Reading AND Writing

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Engage in conversations using level-appropriate grammatical structures including narrating events that take place in the present and producing questions and responses on a variety of topics dealing with everyday life.

  2. Understand level-appropriate spoken language.

  3. Write simple sentences and organize them into paragraphs.

  4. Read and comprehend level-appropriate texts.

  5. Identify and discuss traditions, customs, and values of the foreign-speaking world, and compare and contrast them with characteristics of their own culture.
