New business center in North Houston-Greenspoint area

Starting a new business? Imagine affordable lease space, shared Internet services, printers, copiers, shredding equipment, utilities plus janitorial services, access to a conference/training room, computer workstations, office furnishings, central receptionist, business networking solutions and free business consulting. As a client of the new Center for Business Development-an economic development partnership that has been formed between the North Houston-Greenspoint Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Development Center, Lone Star Corporate College and Lone Star College-North Harris-qualified small businesses and individuals are afforded the opportunity to gain valuable business guidance and resources.

Overall, the partnership provides services to all businesses in the area including entrepreneurial, start-up, existing small (less than 500 employees), large (more than 500 employees) and new-to-area businesses from a central location-Lone Star College-Greenspoint Center located on the North Sam Houston Parkway.

"The intent is to bring together these established leaders in business solutions and workforce development so that individuals and companies won't have to search for resources to advance their fiscal bottom line," said Jimmy Adams, LSC-North Harris dean and an expert in developing delivery systems to maximize workforce and economic development.

Faced with tough economic conditions, entrepreneurs and small to mid-sized companies continue to expand locally to market their services globally. Large companies are searching for ways to improve efficiencies and train their workforce. The need to serve these companies has never been greater. Rather than compete for clients and duplicate services, the partnership created the Center for Business Development to better serve the north Houston region. The center's primary objective is to combine the services of the partners and leverage their individual strengths into a major business support center.

"There is no other on-site partnership like this in Southeast Texas," comments, Reggie Gray, President of the North Houston-Greenspoint Chamber of Commerce. "The NHGCC business model is that of a Business Chamber, not the traditional Community Chamber. If you are serious about developing as a small business or improving your corporate training, this is the Chamber and the partnership you need to explore. We are second in the city with the most fortune five hundred companies in the area; we have the most hotel rooms in the Houston area; and we are the Chamber that championed and created the Freeport Exemption for the airport area. This Chamber has a history of pioneering concepts and projects that benefit business and this partnership provides the opportunity for expanding business development for years to come."

The initial point of contact will be with the North Houston-Greenspoint Chamber, which is located east of I-45 at 250 N Sam Houston Parkway E, across the freeway from Greenspoint Mall. The location is the physical address of Lone Star College-Greenspoint Center, which is a satellite center of Lone Star College-North Harris.
