The wickedly amusing and delicately poignant drama by Barbara Lebow takes a wry and ironic look at a group of homeless people who form an unconventional family. Set amidst cardboard shelters and trash-can hearths, the play begins on Christmas Eve, when Verna discovers a worn-out copy of Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" and begs the group to reenact the old story as a gift to her mute eight-year-old son.

The play features Stephen Blaschke, director; John Cash Carpenter, technical director/scenic design; Amanda Vennebush as Verna; Morgan Warren as Boy; Shane Manning as Charlie: Brandon Morgan as Otis Pope; Brittany Randolph as Azalee Hodge; and James Macaluso as Filomeno.

According to Cash Carpenter, LSC-North Harris drama professor, his drama students were so moved as they prepared for the play that they organized a campus-wide food drive for Northwest Assistance Ministries.
