LSC-Tomball Wi-Fi Access Change Rolling Out This Week

The change described below ONLY applies when you are connecting your personal device to Lone Star College’s wireless network.

During the week of Dec 1, we will be rolling out a change to wi-fi access at LSC-Tomball. Once the change occurs and you attempt to log into Lone Star College’s wireless network using your personal laptop, tablet or smartphone, choose LoneStar and log in using your Lone Star College username and password.Frequently Asked Questions

Why is Lone Star College changing its wireless log in process?

To improve network security and expand the instructional resources available to faculty and students via our wireless network.

I teach in a computer classroom – how will this impact me and my students?

It won’t. This change only affects logging into our wireless network on a personal device.

We have a visitor who needs to connect to our wireless network, what should they do?

Contact the Service Desk to request a temporary visitor account. You will need to provide the visitor’s name and the timeframe of the visit. The Service Desk agent will provide you with the visitor’s temporary login information.

How will Lone Star College students be notified of the change?

We are following a comprehensive communication plan to notify students. Communications started in October and are ongoing throughout the implementation.

What can I expect from OTS during this change?

This change impacts everyone – faculty, staff and students – trying to access our wireless network using their personal device, so we expect bumps! The Service Desk and our desktop technicians are readily available to help make the transition easier.

Downloadable instructions on how to connect your personal Windows 7, iOS or Android mobile device to the LoneStar network may be found on the OTS FAQ web page at LoneStar.edu/OTS-FAQ.
