Lone Star College Appoints Interim President at LSC-Montgomery

Dr. Rebecca Riley
Dr. Rebecca Riley has been named LSC-Montgomery interim president
beginning Jan. 15. Riley replaces Dr. Austin Lane who was recently promoted to LSC executive vice chancellor.

Riley currently serves as vice president of instruction at LSC-Kingwood, a position she has held since August 2009.

She began her career at LSC-Kingwood in 1993 as an adjunct instructor of art and has held numerous other positions including professor of art, associate dean and dean of arts and humanities, and interim vice president of student success.

“We could not have found a more qualified person to assist us during this transition,” said Dr. Stephen Head, LSC chancellor. “Dr. Riley, in addition to being an accomplished artist, is a longtime, proven leader with Lone Star College. Her teaching and administrative background ensures that students, faculty and staff at LSC-Montgomery will be in good hands.”

Riley holds an Ed.D. from Sam Houston State University in higher education leadership along with an M.F.A. in printmaking and art history, and a B.F.A. in painting and art history from Texas Tech University.

“I am delighted to have this opportunity,” said Riley. “I am excited about working with the talented staff and faculty at LSC-Montgomery and look forward to continuing the great tradition left by Dr. Lane.”

Riley currently serves on the board of directors of the Humble Area Assistance Ministries. She has served on numerous other boards in the past including the Community Chamber of Commerce, Culture Shapers and more.

Lane was named to the position of executive vice chancellor effective Jan. 1 and there is an ongoing national search to fill the position of president at LSC-Montgomery, said Head.
