Lone Star College-CyFair Center for the Arts will host a Texas All-State Choir Camp free to Cy-Fair, Katy and Spring Independent School District high school students and area homeschool students.
The camp, which will be held 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday, July 18 – Thursday, July 21 (with a concert on the final night), is open to the first 30 students who register from each voice section (soprano, alto, tenor, and bass.)
Students will spend the week exploring Texas Music Educators Association all-state audition music, sight-singing techniques, rehearsal and audition tips and tricks, and vocal health.
Camp conductor is LSC-CyFair’s Alex Qian who not only directs the Northern America Chorale, but will be a guest conductor leading a cast of 90 LSC-CyFair Concert Choir students in a 40-minute performance at Carnegie Hall this summer. Featured instructors include Leah Dyer, Joseph Rawley, Drew Slatton and Melinda Harrison.
There is a $35 registration (which includes a camp-t-shirt) and students must purchase TMEA all-state music from their preferred vendor. Meals and transportation are not provided.
Registration, model release and participant release forms should be completed and submitted by May 15 to Heather Scanio Division III, 9191 Barker Cypress Rd., Cypress, TX, 77433.
