NHC Carver Center hosts Black History Month events

North Harris College Carver Center will sponsor various events during the month of February in recognition of Black History Month. All events are free to the community. NHC Carver Center is located at 2330 S. Victory Street. For more information, please contact Ann Swint at 281.618.5802.

Feb. 8: Storyteller, Kathy Culmer writes and performs original stories about Black History and the Civil Rights Movement, 7 p.m. in the Carver Center Gallery.

Feb. 13: Presentation by Jarvis Johnson, Councilmember, District B, 6 p.m. in the Carver Center Gallery

Feb.15:  Film: Sankofa, viewing and discussion led by Shirley Ledet, 5:30 p.m. in the Carver Center Gallery.

Feb. 20: Diunna Greenleaf presents history and performance of blues, jazz, gospel, and hip hop, 11:30 a.m. in the Carver Center Gallery. Visit diunna.com for more information.

Feb. 23: Go Western Day – Cowboy or Cowgirl up! Put on your best western wear for the day.

Mar. 2:  Choirs and praise dancers from area churches perform, 7 p.m. at Carver High School Auditorium.
