LSC-North Harris Continues Black History Month Celebrations

Throughout February, Lone Star College-North Harris has been hosting a wide-variety of Black History Month events recognizing the abundant contributions, culture, and momentous strides that African Americans have made. For the second half of the month, the college continues its celebrations at LSC-North Harris, Carver Center and Greenspoint Center. All events are free and most are open to the community. The events are:
Feb. 17, noon: "Gospel Extravaganza," LSC-North Harris Courtyard or Cybercafe (if raining).

Feb. 18, noon: "Resistance: African American Style," Rhonda Ragsdale, Ph.D., candidate from Rice University, LSC-North Harris, Academic Building, room A-126.

Feb. 18, noon: "Open Class with Professor Lashun Griffin-Entrepreneurship," LSC-Carver Center.

Feb. 18, 11 a.m.: "Soul Food Sampling," (for students only), LSC-Greenspoint Center.

Feb. 18, 7 p.m.: "Kathy Culmer-writes and performs original stories about Black History and the Civil Rights Movement," LSC-Carver Center.

Feb. 21, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: "Health Fair and Open House," LSC-Carver Center.    

Feb. 23, 2 to 3 p.m.: "Living with Victory Book Review: "The Pact," Phi Theta Kappa facilitators, Lynda Dodgen, Laura Dupree, and Dr. Stephen Washington, LSC-North Harris, room LB-103.

Feb. 24, noon: "Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras Day Party," LSC-North Harris Courtyard.  

Feb. 24, 7 p.m.: "Who was Martin Luther King? With Professor Bryan Barrows," LSC-North Harris Performing Arts Theatre.   

Feb. 25, 11 a.m.: "History of the NAACP with Carol Mims Galloway, President of Houston Area NAACP," LSC-Greenspoint Center, room 306.               

Feb. 25, noon: "National Buffalo Soldiers Museum: The Leader, the Legend and the Legacy: Frederick Douglas, Harriet Tubman and a Buffalo Soldier," LSC-North Harris Performing Arts Theatre.

Feb. 26, 7 to 9 p.m.: "African American Student Association Entertainment Night," includes a swing out after party, LSC-North Harris Performing Arts Theatre.
