Tony Award nominee performs Feb. 12

Tony Award nominee Calvin Levels will stop at Lone Star College–CyFair Feb. 12 as part of his national tour of the critically acclaimed solo play “James Baldwin – Down From the Mountaintop.”

The play depicts the rich and impassioned life of the esteemed novelist, playwright, essayist and civil rights activist James Baldwin. Levels will perform this one-man show at 6:30 p.m. in the Main Stage as part of Lone Star College–CyFair’s African American Heritage Month celebration. This performance is free to the community and will be followed with a question and answer reception in the lobby of the Center for the Arts Building.

Levels has not only performed this play nationwide he has also appeared in numerous film/television and theatrical productions and received a number of nominations. Recently the National James Baldwin Library Society honored Levels in recognition of his contribution to the legacy of James Baldwin.

Sponsoring this free community event is the Lone Star College–CyFair English Department and  Windows on the World, a program designed to support teaching, cultural diversity and lifelong learning to enrich Lone Star College–CyFair as well as the surrounding community.
