Transfer agreement with A&M signed

A Lone Star College–CyFair and Texas A&M University articulation agreement was officially signed Monday, Feb. 12 that will offer community college students a seamless transition to earning Texas A&M degrees.

This spring, Texas A&M University launched a new Transfer Partnership Program which gives Texas community college students more opportunities to pursue specific degrees at Texas A&M with guaranteed transfer admission.

Last week, Lone Star College–CyFair President Dr. Diane Troyer joined TAMU’s Assistant Provost for Enrollment Dr. Alice Reinarz, on behalf of Interim President Dr. Eddie J. Davis, in the signing ceremony of the agreement making Lone Star College–CyFair the 10th community college statewide to be part of TAMU’s Transfer Partnership Program.

“We are excited about having Lone Star College–CyFair join this partnership. This new initiative will help offer students in the Houston area, and those served by our nine other college partners, seamless access to completing their upper level coursework and degrees at Texas A&M,” said Dr. Reinarz.

Lone Star College–CyFair serves students of all ages in the Cy-Fair community, among which includes Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District, a large and growing geographic area that is expected to have 11 area high schools by 2008.

“Lone Star College–CyFair is enrolling an increasing percentage of traditional age students because of the increasing number of high school graduates in CFISD and the environment of an award-winning campus,” said Dr. Troyer. “We’re very proud of our record in the number of students who come here with the intent to transfer to Texas A&M and other universities. This partnership is a wonderful option for our students and will facilitate transfer for so many students.”

Upon completing 24 hours with at least a 3.0 grade point average, Lone Star College–CyFair students will be guaranteed transfer admission to Texas A&M in specified degree plans for Texas A&M University Colleges of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Education and Human Development, Engineering, Geosciences or Science as well as for Texas A&M University at Galveston.
