Start the new year with a little art appreciation at Lone Star College–CyFair with an exhibition in the Bosque Gallery, set to run through Feb. 8 featuring the work of visiting artist Lindsey Wolkowicz.
An elementary art teacher and former art school admissions counselor from Portland, Oregon, Wolkowicz combines traditional drawing, non-traditional materials and constructed surfaces to create her mixed media art.
“Her work speaks about the connection of the body to the architectural spaces it occupies, while it is in constant search for a sense of home,” said Sarah Cassidy, Lone Star College–CyFair gallery coordinator.
A closing reception and lecture will be held from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 8 in the Center for the Arts Building.
“Lindsey will discuss her development as an artist and how the content of her work has evolved,” said Cassidy. “She will also share advice regarding portfolios for students interested in pursuing art education or career beyond Lone Star College–CyFair.”
Gallery hours are Tuesday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or by appointment. For information, call 832-482-1038.
