Welcome Back!
We hope you all enjoyed your winter break. It's time to get back into the swing of routines and leisure learning! This next week is the start of our Spring 2026 classes and we are excited for what the new semester has in store. Whether you're interested in fitness, crafts, language practice, or games, we have something planned for everyone. Remember, all library events are free and open to the community.

Stepping Out (Course #15121), 8:00-9:00am | Meet in Parking Lot 8A

This is a weekly class:
Friends, sunshine and exercise all wrapped up in one package. We spend about an hour walking around campus and the surrounding area. We usually end our walk with a stop to feed the fish, turtles and ducks. They are waiting for us and eager to enjoy the treat. We meet in the Campus parking lot outside the Conference Center at 8am on Tuesday morning.

Library - Ballet Body Conditioning Basics, 8:30-9:30am | Bldg 3, LRNC 131

This is a weekly class*:
Ballet Body Conditioning Basics is ballet-based body conditioning and strengthening using Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) exercises.

  • Free! No registration.
  • A waiver will be provided and is required to participate.
  • Attire: Wear something you can move comfortably in. Exercise pants and t-shirts are fine. Shoes are not necessary, bare feet or socks work best.
  • Equipment: Bring a yoga mat or towel to lay on. If you have a small exercise ball please bring it (some will also be provided)

Brain Health (Course #14644), 9:30-11:00am | Bldg 9, HSC1 105

This course will focus on the benefits of movement within your brain and body. Focusing on the positive impact movement has on lowering ones risk for neurodegenerative diseases.

Texas 42 Dominos (Course #14641), 12:00-4:00pm | Meet in CENT, Bldg 8, Student Commons area (cafeteria)

This is a weekly class:
Texas 42 is a trick-taking game played with double six dominoes. Whether you're a regular, haven't played in years, or new to dominos, come join the fun! We'll teach you in a relaxed, informal setting. We're a friendly group with all experience levels, learning from each other as we play. No stress, just fun. Come when you can; stay as long as you want. Tuesdays and Thursdays with David.

Concert Choir (Course #16732), 12:00-1:20pm | Bldg 1, ART 106

This is a weekly class:
A large vocal ensemble performing large-scale sacred and secular works. Participants must read music and have at least two years of experience at the high-school level as determined by the instructor through audition. For audition information, contact Paulo.E.Gomes@lonestar.edu. This class will be combined with a credit course being offered to Music majors. It is encouraged that anyone and everyone interested in choir come join whether you're seeking a music degree or not. Reminder, this course meets in ART 106.

Pastel Drawing (Course #14550), 2:00-3:00pm | Bldg 9, HSC1 105

Come learn to draw like the Impressionists at this introductory drawing course using soft pastels!

Library - Computer Workshop: Google Drive Basics, 5:30-7:00pm | Bldg 3, LRNC 212 - Computer Lab

This program is geared toward beginners with a basic understanding of how to use a computer.

  • Program limited to 12 attendees
  • Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early to park, secure a seat in the class, and log onto the computer.

White Elephant Cook Book Exchange, 10:30am-12:30pm | Bldg 9, HSC1 105

For those students that participated in December's Cook the Book white elephant book exchange, today is the day to bring your chosen dish.

Join us for a fun and relaxed cooking session where we explore simple, delicious recipes you can try at home.

Daytrippers (Course #15120), 1:00-3:00pm | Bldg 9, HSC1 105

Bring your ideas and a calendar. Help schedule trips in and around Houston, up to 1.5 hours' drive. The plan is to carpool, so drivers are needed as well. It's a great way to see new sights and meet new friends!

Healthy Aging Made Simple (Course #16868), 10:00-11:00am | Bldg 9, HSC1 105

Getting older doesn’t have to mean slowing down. In this class, you’ll learn simple lifestyle shifts that can help you feel more energetic, strong, and vibrant. We’ll explore nutrition, daily routines, and natural tools that support your body—so you can keep doing the things you love.

Mahjong 101 (Course #14642), 11:30am-1:30pm | Bldg 9, HSC1 105

Learn how to play the American version of this Chinese tile game. The first 4 classes will be instruction, then weekly practice. Mahjong sets provided, but a National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) card will not be needed for lessons. Weekly practice after 2/12/26 is tentatively set for CENT, Bldg 8 in the Faculty lounge area.

Travel on a Budget (Course #14748), 2:00-3:30pm | Bldg 9, HSC1 105

Learn tips from Dawn Fobbs on how to travel under $1,000 anywhere! Let's have fun learning how to travel without breaking the bank and where to find great deals. Dawn will also explore safety tips while on your trip to save your legacy.
