Aaron Vierkant is an active educator, choral clinician, and performer. Vierkant is an Assistant Professor of Music and the Vocal Area Coordinator at Lone Star College Montgomery. Before his current position, Vierkant held numerous Adjunct Professor positions, including placements at College of the Mainland, Lone Star College, and Blinn College, as well as spending seven years teaching high school choir at both Klein Forest and Magnolia West High Schools. Choirs under Vierkant’s direction consistently earned superior & excellent ratings at state level choral festivals, and have numerous times been invited to perform for collegiate and state level choral concerts, with the most recent being the 1st annual Blinn College Choral Invitational, the 6th annual “Hear the Future” clinic & concert with the Houston Chamber Choir, and an opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall in collaboration with MidAmerica Productions.
Vierkant is a frequent choral clinician, adjudicator, and guest conductor. In addition to his career as a conductor, Vierkant often performs as a featured tenor soloist, as well as with professional choirs around the Greater Houston area. Vierkant is currently a member of Mercury Singers and has held previous singing positions with the Houston Men’s Choir, Texas Master Chorale, and performed as the tenor soloist in the Woodlands Chorale production of Handel’s Messiah.
Vierkant completed his Bachelor of Choral Music Education degree at Sam Houston State University under the guidance of Drs. Joshua Bronfman and Sandy Hinkley-Perez. Vierkant went on to pursue graduate studies at the University of Texas at El Paso, earning a Master of Music in Choral Conducting degree under the guidance of Dr. Elisa Fraser Wilson. Vierkant is currently a Doctoral Candidate for the Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership at Sam Houston State University, where his Dissertation research focuses on uncovering the underlying motivations behind Adult Learners pursuing higher education and the implementation of academic support systems. Vierkant is slated for graduation in 2028.
