Take charge of your career! Learn how to make informed decisions about your career exploration process. Explore Career Resources to research occupational information, salaries, and employment projections. By breaking your journey into manageable steps, you can gain clarity and confidence in your choices. Let’s start by exploring the essential steps to career planning and choosing a college major.

STEP 1:  Self-Discovery - Self-awareness will help you reach your career goals.  Consider these questions:

  • What special skills and abilities do you have?
  • What motivates and excites you?
  • What work environment is most appealing to you?
  • What are your challenges?

STEP 2:  Assess Yourself - Learn which careers would be more satisfying to you by assessing your personality, interests, and values before exploring different careers.

  • "My Next Move" helps you match your interests with career possibilities. Access a free self-assessment here.

STEP 3:  Discover Career Options - Take time to investigate the world of work. Make a list of careers that interest you and explore them online or by talking with professionals. Consider the following questions as you research:

  • What is the nature of the work?
  • What education, training, or certification is required?
  • What is the typical work environment like?
  • What salary can you expect?
  • What does the job market look like now and in the future?
  • What related careers might be a good fit?

Our Pathway Plans offer an ideal route for your educational and career goals. These plans provide a clear roadmap for completing your degree and preparing for your future career. View over 70 Associate of Applied Science degrees in our Areas of Study/Major.
