Lone Star College-Montgomery is prioritizing community well-being through a strong commitment to mental health. The college is hosting two engaging events aimed at raising awareness and expanding access to mental health support across campus. These initiatives reflect the college’s broader focus on fostering a healthy and thriving environment for students, faculty, and staff.
On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, in partnership with Tri-County Behavioral Healthcare, LSC-Montgomery will offer a Mental Health First Aid Training for faculty and staff. This workshop equips participants with the tools to recognize and respond to mental health challenges, providing initial support until professional help is available.
Then, on October 7, 2025, the “Let’s Taco-bout Mental Health” event will take place in Building A. This informal gathering invites students to enjoy free tacos while exploring the many mental health resources available on campus. The event encourages open dialogue and helps reduce the stigma around seeking support.
Beyond these events, LSC-Montgomery offers a wide range of services designed to support academic success and personal well-being. These resources form a campus-wide network tailored to meet the diverse needs of the college community. Services include:
- Counseling Services: Offers personalized mental health and wellness support.
- Maverick Care Center: Provides essential resources such as a food pantry and clothing closet to help alleviate stressors that impact well-being.
- Disability Services: Ensures an inclusive and accessible educational experience.
- Fitness Center: Encourages physical and mental wellness through exercise.
- TRAC Center: Supports career readiness and helps ease concerns about the future.
Through these integrated services, LSC-Montgomery has cultivated a campus culture that values holistic success and ensures that support is always within reach, reinforcing that well-being is a top priority.
