Bio
Michael (“Mike”) Stoma is a native Houstonian and former educator with deep roots in both business and public service. A graduate of Aldine Douglas MacArthur High School, he began his higher education at the then-fledgling North Harris County College (NHCC)—when classes were still held at Aldine High School—before a dedicated campus was built. NHCC would later become Lone Star College.
Stoma went on to teach Electronics Engineering Technology at NHCC and also served as an adjunct professor at the University of Houston–Downtown, teaching Business and Computer Information Systems. His career spans decades as a business and technology consultant, with prior public service in the Texas House of Representatives and the Houston Police Department. He is also a proud U.S. Air Force Vietnam veteran.
An accomplished and strategic program and project management professional, Stoma has successfully delivered multi-million-dollar, IT-based projects on time and under budget. He brings expertise in managing cross-functional teams, collaborating with offshore partners, and leading initiatives in information technology, business process management, and organizational transformation.
Stoma holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Sam Houston State University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas. He also earned Master of Science certifications in Project Management and Business Process Management from the University of Illinois, Springfield. His professional credentials include: Professional Project Manager, Agile Project Leader, Scrum Product Owner, Scrum Master, DevOps Professional, and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
Married with two adult children and three grandchildren, Stoma enjoys golfing and motorcycling in his personal time.
