HESI Testing (Nursing/Radiology Technology)

HESI RN (Registered Nursing) Admissions Exam for Nursing

The HESI RN Admissions Exam is required to apply to the Nursing programs with Lone Star College. Testing is available in person only at multiple Lone Star College Testing Centers. Appointments are required!

The cost is $65 and will be paid directly to Elsevier/HESI. Follow these steps to get started:

1. Fill out the Nursing HESI Testing Request Form.
2. Schedule an appointment to test.

3. Wait for an email from the University Park Testing Center (or other location) with the payment instructions.

  • Instructions will be sent to you via email 1-2 business days prior to your appointment date.

4. Make your payment on the HESI ecommerce site (link will be provided via email along with instructions for creating your HESI Evolve account which will be needed on test day).

You must have a Lone Star College Student ID number to test. Please apply for Admission if you do not.

Required Test Subjects for Lone Star College Nursing Programs:

  • Reading Comprehension

  • Grammar

  • Vocabulary

  • Anatomy & Physiology

  • Math

  • Critical Thinking

Time Limit for the HESI RN Admissions Exam for Nursing: 5 1/2 hours.

HESI HP (Health Professions) Admissions Exam for Medical Radiology Technology (Rad Tech)

The HESI HP Admissions Exam is required to apply to the Medical Radiological Technology program with Lone Star College.

Testing begins on October 13, 2025.

Testing is available in person only at multiple Lone Star College Testing Centers. Appointments are required!

You may only test ONCE per year which runs from October 13, 2025 when testing opens through October 2, 2026. 

Your scores may be used to apply to both programs (CyFair and Montgomery).

 Re-testing will NOT be allowed until October of the next year.

 Dead week for HESI testing for Rad Tech: October 5-9, 2026 *no testing will be offered this week.*

 Application Dates for the CyFair Radiology Technology Program: March 6, 2026 - May 22, 2026

 (Testing Deadline for CyFair is May 8, 2026)

 Application Dates for the Montgomery Radiology Technology Program: July 1, 2026 - October 7, 2026

(Testing Deadline for Montgomery is October 2, 2026)

 NOTE: If you require Distance Testing options as you are outside the Houston metropolitan area, here are instructions for completing the HESI exam.

  • Apply to become an LSC student by visiting: https://www.lonestar.edu/admissions.htm
  • Email the CyFair Testing Center at CyFair.TestingCenter@LoneStar.edu to let them know you live outside the Houston metropolitan area. In your email, request to take the HESI Distance Testing. NOTE: The Distance Testing request must be submitted at least two (2) weeks prior to the date you wish to test.
  • You will receive a follow-up email with detailed instructions for Distance Testing through Prometric.
