p. 28-30 Placement and Student Success - Effective January, 2010 and beginning with spring, 2010 registration: First Time in College (FITC) students who have placed into 2 or more developmental areas are required to take EDUC 1300 before they reach 15 credit hours.  It is highly recommended that students take this course as early as possible in their curriculum to assist with success in other courses. EDUC 1300 is a class designed to assist new college students obtain the skills necessary to be successful college students.  Topics include but are not limited to study skills, motivation, learning styles, career assessment and goal setting, and critical thinking.

p. 28 Placement scores -  Effective March 2010, reading & writing placement scores on Compass, ASSET, Accuplacer, & THEA will be valid for 5 years.   Math placement scores on Compass, ASSET, Accuplacer, & THEA will be valid for 3 years.  Students with expired test scores will need to retest.

Course Placement Scores-Chart B (page 29)

The Course Placement Scores (Chart B) on page 29 should be revised to include the following Accuplacer scores effective spring, 2010: College Level Math (CLM) score of 85 or higher will place a student in MATH 1316, 1324, 1325, 1342, 1350 Or 1351. A CLM score of 94 or higher AND a grade of B or better in high school PreCal or Trig will place a student in MATH 2412. A CLM score of 103 or higher AND a B or better in high school Precal or Trig will place a student in MATH 2413. p. 62-63 Credit by External Exam - CLEP for foreign languages: effective for students registering for spring 2010, PLA by CLEP for foreign languages will allow students with minimum scores of 50 credit for the relevant FREN, GERM, or SPAN 1411 and 1412 courses ONLY.  No further PLA credit by CLEP for foreign language courses will be available for 2311, 2312 and/or 2306.  Students applying for the PLA by CLEP for these foreign language courses will no longer be required to submit an additional essay or sit for an interview.  Only the CLEP exam score will be required to apply for PLA credit in foreign language.  The note on page 63 marked with one asterisk (*) is deleted.  For additional details, see http://www.lonestar.edu/PLA.

p. 63 Credit by External Exam - CAPE scores for foreign languages: effective for students registering for spring 2010, PLA by CAPE for foreign languages will no longer include interview or essay components.  Students will pay $25 for the test, and not for the PLA credit determination.  The $25 test fee will be collected regardless of the number of courses credited through PLA. The fee will be waived for dual credit students for the initial assessment. Students will be charged $25 for each subsequent test.  Students must pass the course they place into with a C or better and then can apply for PLA credit for the lower level courses. p. 82 AAT EC-4 Early Childhood Specialization: Beginning spring 2010, no new students will be accepted to this program due to recent changes by The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

p. 90 Degrees and Certificate Clusters: Under the heading Logistics Management, Lone Star College-Kingwood should have no stars listed for any degree or certificate in this program. This campus no longer offers any of the logistic courses.
