Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT)

The Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) is designed for those students who need to satisfy the lower division requirements for a bachelor's degree leading to an initial teacher certification. There are two AAT degrees offered at LSCS:

Both the Teaching AAT Degree EC-6 Generalist and the Teaching AAT Degree Grades 4-8 Generalist are offered at LSC-CyFair, LSC-Kingwood, LSC-Montgomery, LSC-North Harris, LSC-Tomball, and LSC-University Park. For more information, please contact the Education Department.

EC-6 Generalist

Leading to a bachelor's degree for individuals seeking Texas teacher certification.

  1. Choose from SPCH 1311, 1315, 1318, or 1321
  2. ARTS 1301 meets the multicultural requirement. If DRAM, ARTS, or MUSI elective option is chosen, select a course that will meet multicultural requirements. See core requirements.
  3. Eight total hours of science must consist of four hours each of two science  courses with labs. Choose BIOL 1406 or 1408, 1407 or 1409, CHEM 1405,  1411, 1412, GEOL 1403, or PHYS 1410. It is recommended (not required)  that the courses be chosen from two different areas for a broader understanding  of the sciences.
  4. Select from: ENGL 2322, 2323, 2327, 2328, 2332, 2333, 2341, 2342, 2343, or 2351

LSCS requires that students meet computer literacy competancy. It is strongly recommended that students speak with an advisor at the transferring institution to confirm transferability of courses into degree plans, THEA score requirements, and SBEC requirements.
