Lone Star College students to study abroad this summer

Lone Star College Honors College students recently received the prestigious Gilman International Scholarship to study abroad this summer.

Lone Star College Honors College students participate in top-quality educational programs, including international classes, national conferences and study abroad opportunities to help them thrive and compete globally.

“Lone Star College is changing the concept of what community colleges can offer students with high caliber programs and excellent faculty, but at lower tuition rates and smaller classroom sizes,” said Katharine Caruso, Ph.D., LSC associate vice chancellor, Honors and International Education.  

The United States Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman Program recently awarded five LSC Global Scholars and Honors College students with the prestigious Gilman International Scholarship for a summer 2024 study abroad experience. These recipients will use the $4,000 scholarship to travel, learn and explore various cultures located in African and Asian countries.

  2. Ailin Gonzalez, LSC-Houston North Global Scholars, Morocco
  3. Georgina Palomo, LSC-Tomball Honors College, Philippines
  4. Guiliana Sodaro, LSC-Tomball Global Scholars and Honors College, Japan
  5. Diana Nguyen Tran, LSC-CyFair Honors College, Morocco

“This international scholarship will help me to realize my dream of studying abroad and is positioning me to gain a broader understanding of the world, which is crucial to becoming a lawyer,” said Sodaro.
