Community Engagement Events
As LSC-Montgomery celebrates three decades of academic excellence, innovation, and community impact, we invite students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community members to join us as we pay tribute to our past, celebrate the present, and take a bold look towards our future. Events may include concerts, art exhibits, a campus Open House, community tours, featured speakers, and fundraising campaigns. Visit our campus calendar for a list of events and check back often as new opportunities are added throughout the year.
30 for 30 Maverick Acts of Service Events
We are also excited to announce our 30 for 30 Maverick Acts of Service initiative focused on creating community service-focused opportunities for students, faculty, and staff. During our year of celebration, all Mavericks will be invited to participate in thirty different events aimed at fostering community engagement, building partnerships, and promoting social responsibility. Participants will have the opportunity to receive limited edition 30 for 30 Maverick Acts of Service swag, as well as the option to record their philanthropy service hours.
Ready to make an impact, have fun, and serve alongside Maverick faculty, staff, and students? It's as easy as attending one (or hopefully more!) of our service events listed below. You can even fill out our Maverick Acts of Service Interest form, and we'll contact you with monthly service opportunities.

Help us make a difference in Montgomery County by volunteering your time at the Montgomery County Food Bank. Serve alongside fellow Mavericks and community members to sort canned goods, pack and weigh donation boxes, and sort fruits, vegetables and cold storage items. Community Grocery Bag Decorating, October 2025

Monday, October 20 - Friday, October 24
Art for a Cause: Let's get creative! Help us bring joy to our community members by decorating a grocery bag on campus. Collected grocery bags will be given to local support services and will be filled with groceries to help those who are facing food insecurity. Grocery bag decorating stations (all supplies will be provided) will be available in Buildings A, C and G. Stations will be open from 10 am to 2 pm each day (or until supplies run out). Drop off your decorated bags in specially marked baskets right next to the stations and we'll make sure they get delivered to those in need. Thank you for your support!

Montgomery County Heart Walk, November 2025

Mavericks, join us as we walk to save lives! All faculty, staff and students are invited to join Team Maverick as we walk to support heart research and promote healthy heart habits in Montgomery County. We look forward to walking Maverick strong at the 2025 Montgomery County Heart Walk. Team sign-up information is now available: 1). Complete the Mavericks Walk form by 10/29 (no registration fee required), 2). Pick up your Maverick 30 for 30 t-shirt on 10/30 (information will be provided to participants), 3). Wake up and walk with us on Saturday, 11/1 at North Shore Park.

Toys for Tots, November 2025

The LSC-Montgomery Office of Veteran Services will host their annual donation drop-off location for the nationwide Toys for Tots program. Help us to create a magical holiday for children by donating a new, unwrapped toy to Building A, Room 229 during normal hours of operation. We thank you in advance for your donation and generosity!

Veterans Day of Service & Holiday Cards for Troops, November 2025

Thank you, Veterans! Join the LSC-Montgomery Office of Veteran Services as they offer a day of service to honor our veterans, including a special presentation and on-campus activities. We also invite you to create a holiday card/write a letter for our troops. A holiday card decorating and writing station (all supplies will be provided) will be available in Building A from 9 am - 3 pm. Drop off your decorated card/letter in our Holiday Cards/Letters for the Troops mailbox and we'll mail them to Home - Help Heal Veterans for distribution to troops serving around the world.

Community Holiday Card Decorating, December 2025

Join us as we decorate holiday cards for local Senior citizens. Visit Buildings A, C, and G for specially marked card decorating stations. All supplies will be provided, and all cards will be delivered to local volunteer organizations for community distribution. We look forward to making the holidays brighter for those in need.

A Season of Service: Community Tree Lighting Event with Trustee Broussard, December 2025

Join us for a magical holiday community event! We are thrilled to be joined by Trustee Broussard as we officially kick-off the holiday season with a campus tree lighting event along with photos with Santa, holiday inflatables, holiday DJ music, real SNOW!, crafts, movies on the lawn, hot chocolate and so much more. This fun-filled community event is open to all! Please consider signing up to help at our holiday event.
