LSC-Montgomery Drama Ellen Ketchum

Ellen Ketchum is celebrating her sixth year at Lone Star College–Montgomery where she has directed many productions including Cabaret, Jesus Christ Superstar, Translations, A Little Night Music, Carousel, Rashomon, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Company, They’re Playing Our Song, and Master Class, for which she received the American College Theatre Festival’s Region VI Directors Award.  She is especially proud of the part she played in establishing South Coast Repertory Theatre, a Tony award-winning theatre in Southern California, where she served as Managing Director for fifteen years, and is the recipient of the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for producing the Occidental Summer Theatre Festival, and three Lester Horton Awards for producing dance in Los Angeles.  She is a co-founder of  feetspeak, an international, award-winning dance festival. She served as interim Executive Director for the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana, California, Director of Performing Arts at Occidental College, and Executive Director of the University of  Southern California School of Theatre.  Most recently she was the Executive Director of the historic Alex Theatre in Los Angeles, where she presented music, dance and theatre from around the world.  She has taught at the University of Southern California, where she established an academic program for both the graduate and undergraduate schools in Arts Management, taught Public Relations and Marketing at UCLA, Arts Management at California State University Los Angeles and Occidental College.  She teaches a variety of theatre courses at Lone Star College–Montgomery.
