HESI Testing (Nursing/Radiology)

The LSC-Atascocita Testing Center administers the HESI RN and HESI HP exams by appointment only. Please refer to the chart below for details and instructions on each exam type.

HESI Nursing Admission Exam (In-Person)

The HESI RN Admissions Exam is required to apply to the Nursing programs with Lone Star College.  Testing is available in person only at the LSC-Atascocita Center. You can also test at other Lone Star College Testing Centers.

  • The HESI Nursing Admission Exam is computer based. 

  • You must have a Lone Star College Student ID number to test. Please apply for Admissions if you do not.

  • Time Limit for the HESI RN Admissions Exam for Nursing: 5 1/2 hours. With ADA accommodations, students may be allowed longer test taking time.

  • The HESI test is available to be taken at LSC campuses during the nursing application periods of that campus only.

  • A study guide for Evolve Reach Admission Assessment Exam Review (HESI A2) can be purchased online.

  • If you take the test at any LSC campus, the score will appear on your application.

  • A minimum score of 80 for Basic Track and Transition and a 70 for LVN on ALL SECTIONS are required before applying to the program.

  • Previous scores may be used if taken within 1 year of application; official scores must be submitted from Elsevier.

  • The HESI entrance exam scores must be less than one year old at the time of application.

  • When retaking the test, students will have to retake all 5 sections of the test and Critical Thinking.

  • Applicants wishing to retest must wait 60 days to retake the HESI Test. Scores from tests taken in violation of the 60-day rule are invalid.

  • The critical thinking portion of the HESI A2 entrance exam will be required starting with the July 2016 application period. A minimum of 750 will be required in this section for the application to the Associate Degree Nursing Programs, and a minimum score of 700 in this section will be required for application to the Vocational Nursing Program.

  • HESI A2 entrance exam scores are valid for one year from the date taken.

Materials Needed for the Test

  • Valid Picture Identification
  • PAID RECEIPT from Elsevier/Evolve
  • Evolve username and password

Materials Provided at the Test

  • Scratch Paper
  • Calculator

Please travel as lightly as possible to the Testing Center, as the following items are prohibited from entering the testing room: watches, all electronic devices, hats/head coverings, sunglasses, eye glass cases, phones, wallets/purses, backpacks, food/drink, and gum.

Payment Instructions 

The cost is $65 and will be paid directly to Elsevier/Evolve. Once you schedule your exam, you will receive the HESI exam payment instructions from the Lone Star College-Atascocita Testing Center via email (1-2 business days prior to your test day).

  • Exams MUST be scheduled a minimum of 24 hours in advance and a maximum of 15 days in advance.

HESI Radiology Admission Exam (In-Person)

The HESI Radiology Admissions Exam is required to apply to the Medical Radiological Technology program with Lone Star College.

  • The HESI HP Exam for Radiology Technology is offered from October to October.

  • Testing begins October 13, 2025. Testing is only allowed ONCE per year which runs from October 13, 2025, through October 2, 2026.

  • Your scores may be used to apply to both programs (LSC-CyFair and LSC-Montgomery).

  • Re-testing will NOT be allowed until mid-October of the next year.
