September is the Manager for the TRIO Student Support Services at LSC-Montgomery. She previously served as an Academic Advisor by providing ongoing advising support in various areas on the Montgomery campus. As a strong education professional, she provided guidance & leadership to students through the necessary beginning steps as first-time college students and established students. She also provided on-going academic support, while assisting students with achieving their academic goals by either earning an associate degree and/or transferring to a four-year University. September prides herself on building bridges with students and peers and is a dedicated education professional who takes pride in helping our students succeed.
She brings a wealth of Enrollment Management, Academic Advising, and Leadership while bringing positive energy, knowledge, and a heart for serving and supporting students from start to finish. September is an experienced manager with a demonstrated history of working in Higher Education. She holds a Master of Education in Instructional Leadership from Sam Houston State University, Undergraduate Bachelor’s Degree in Interpersonal Communication from the University of Houston Downtown and an Associate Degree from Lone Star College. September was once a first-generation college student herself and can relate to students who are new to college. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and watching movies.
Derrick Tate - Advisor II, TRIO Student Support Services

Derrick is the Advisor II for TRIO Student Support Services (SSS), where he oversees engagement and advising for first-generation students at Lone Star College-Montgomery. Derrick earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from SHSU in 2016 and is a TRIO alumni. With a passion for serving and mentoring, he prides himself on navigating students of underrepresented backgrounds through the process of obtaining a college degree. He has over 7 years of experience working for TRiO, and he is excited to be a part of the TRiO-SSS AIM team.
In his spare time, Derrick enjoys all things ESPN, binge-watching the latest Netflix shows, trying new foods and shameless decompressing (i.e. taking a nap).
Kristen Lehman - Advisor, TRIO Student Support Services

Kristen earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Human Development and Learning from East Tennessee State University where she worked with Upward Bound, a TRIO program. She also holds a Master of Pastoral Studies and Administration from Loyola University, New Orleans. Kristen’s passion for student success has followed her throughout her career in various roles and disciplines and she is thrilled to return to Higher Education and to the TRIO family as an Academic Advisor.
In her spare time, Kristen can be found doing laps at the pool, shuttling her 3 children to activities, watching baseball with her husband, reading a book or baking chocolate chip cookies.
Amber Barrett - Part Time Advisor, TRIO Student Support Services

Amber earned a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Sam Houston State University. She spent several years as a classroom teacher before pursuing a career in Higher Education. Amber recently completed a graduate certification in Academic Advising from Sam Houston State University. She has a passion for education and student success.
In her spare time, Amber enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, trying new restaurants, and traveling to new places.
Audrey Torres - English Tutor, TRIO Student Support Services

Audrey is the English Tutor for TRIO Student Support Services (SSS), where she provides literary assistance and knowledge. She dually attends Lone Star College - Montgomery and the University of Houston - Downtown to earn her Bachelor of Art in English with a concentration in creative writing. With a desire to help others, Audrey seeks to build and advance students’ literacy to promote future success and growth. As a first-generation, low-income student who has also experienced temporary disability, she understands how life can largely affect school and hopes to uplift struggling students.
In her spare time, Audrey enjoys researching, trying out random activities, and video games.
Renato Mendoza – Math Tutor, TRIO Student Support Services

Renato is a Math Tutor for TRIO Support Services (SSS) with the experience to teach students subjects ranging from Pre-college Algebra to Calculus III. Renato graduated from the University of Houston in 2021 as an Industrial Engineer and currently seeks a Business Operations Certificate at Lone Star College Montgomery. He understands the struggles of students attempting to complete the formulas and assignments required to become proficient in fundamental fields of science and technology and has the experience to teach his students to become proficient on their courses.
In his spare time, Renato likes to watch and play soccer, perform music as a singer and guitar player, and run cross-country.
Isela Jaimes - Peer Mentor, TRIO Student Support Services

Isela is a Peer Mentor for TRIO Student Support Services and a current TRIO student at Lone Star College- Montgomery. She will graduate with an associate degree in Human Services and a certificate of a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. Isela plans to transfer to the University of Houston- Downtown to pursue her bachelor’s degree in Social Work. Isela enjoys helping others and is making that skill a career for herself by going into counseling. She identifies with many TRIO students who are not only first-generation students but also full-time parents who endure many sacrifices while enrolled in college.
In her spare time Isela enjoys the outdoors, she loves going to the beach, experiencing new places or restaurants, and spending time with her children.
