Student Guidelines

The following guidelines are to ensure a smooth proctoring experience for all students taking exams at the Lone Star College-North Harris Assessment Center.

  • Appointments are required! Walk-ins are NOT allowed. See the "Schedule an Appointment" link to schedule your exam.
  • Students with approved accommodations must schedule special testing accommodations such as a private testing room or a Reader/Scribe at least 48-72 hours in advance.
  • Students must be on time for their appointments. Anyone arriving 30 or more minutes late must reschedule.
  • All students must show a valid, unexpired, physical photo ID to take an exam.
  • No testing will begin one hour prior to closing.
  • No children will be allowed in the Assessment Center during exams. Please make other arrangements prior to testing.
  • All cell phones and electronics must be turned off and stored in a locker.
  • No food, drinks, or gum are allowed in the testing rooms.
  • Prohibited items must be stored in a locker while testing (electronics, watches, hats, sunglasses, food, drinks, books, backpacks, and personal items).
  • Students must know the name of their instructor, class, and specific test they wish to take.
  • Students may use personal calculators on tests when permitted by the instructor. All graphic calculators must be presented to an Assessment Center proctor before and after testing. All current work will be cleared from the memory.
  • Students may not leave the Assessment Center once a test has begun unless it is an emergency. A proctor must be consulted before leaving.
  • Talking is not permitted in the testing rooms.
  • Students will be closely monitored. If a student is suspected of cheating, the proctor will inform, but not confront, the student during testing. The proctor will document this on an Incident Form and a copy will be given to the instructor and/or the Dean.
  • Students must give completed exams to a proctor. Students are not allowed to leave the Assessment Center with a completed test.
