Placement Testing

All students, unless considered TSI Complete, must take a complete assessment (COMPASS, Accuplacer or THEA) prior to enrolling at LSCS. Enrollment in most college-level courses requires scores high enough to place into the college-level course or students will need to complete all appropriate developmental coursework with a “C” or better.

External Challenge Exams

Lone Star College System has established equivalent course credit for minimum passing scores for several external challenge examination programs, including the Achievement test (ACT), College Level Examination Program (CLEP), Foreign Language Exams (CAPE), Advanced Placement (AP), and International Baccalaureate (IB).

Note: College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams are only available through the LSC-Tomball Testing Center. For more information, call the testing center at 832.559.4245.

Internal Challenge Exams

Students can earn credit for some courses related to their degree plan with a passing test score on the internal challenge exam for that course.

Make-up Testing

Students requiring make-up exams must make prior arrangements with their instructor before taking a make-up test in any Lone Star College Testing Center. The following items are required for taking the test:

• Photo ID (Drivers License, school ID, etc)
• Instructor's name
• Course name

Correspondence Exams

Lone Star College Testing Centers will proctor correspondence tests from other universities for a fee of $25 per test. Students will need to make arrangements with their university to have their tests sent directly to a Lone Star College Testing Center.

Foreign Language Exams

Lone Star College students with previous language experience must complete a placement exam (S-CAPE for Spanish and F-CAPE for French) prior to enrolling in language courses to be placed into the correct level. Contact a Lone Star College Testing Center for more information.

Special Needs Testing

Students with disabilities who have been approved for testing accomodations can take advantage of testing accommodations with Lone Star College Testing Centers.
