African American and Hispanic Institute for Males Application

In order to begin preparing more young men at an earlier age for success after high school graduation, Lone Star College is welcoming African American and Hispanic young men, ages 13 through 15, to the African American and Hispanic Institute for Males.

This program provides an intense four day experience on the Lone Star College Kingwood campus from June 17 through June 20th, in which participants will be engaged in meaningful activities designed to prepare them for life beyond high school. These activities will be scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

Leadership, cultural heritage, life skills, interview etiquette, and college preparedness are some of the topics covered in the workshops offered at the institute.  Also, during this four day event, attendees will have numerous opportunities to interact with positive male role models who are committed to supporting the success of African American and Hispanic young men.  Not only will attendees develop skills that will lead them to brighter futures, attendees will also develop connections to leaders who can serve as mentors.

The African American and Hispanic Institute for Males is offering this purposeful summer opportunity to young men so that more will take advantage of the educational opportunities offered at the community college. Lone Star College Kingwood is committed to preparing students to live productive and prosperous lives. The vision of the African American and Hispanic Institute for Males is to ensure that the college’s commitment to student success reaches the African American and Hispanic male populations. African American and Hispanic young men, ages 13 through 15, who aspire to become successful leaders and future role models are encouraged to apply.
