United States Savings Bonds

United States Savings Bonds may be purchased through payroll deductions. To participate, the payroll deduction authorization must be completed and forwarded to the Payroll Office. When sufficient funds are accumulated in the account, a bond will be purchased and mailed to the employee's home address. Participation may be changed or discontinued at any time.

EyeMed Vision Care

EyeMed Vision Care Plan provides affordable, quality vision care, nationwide. Through EyeMed Vision Care Plan provider network, you will receive a complete eye examination, as well as materials (if needed). EyeMed Vision Care Plan is an alternative vision program that is not covered under the Health Select plan. Davis Vision Discount Program and EyeMed Vision Care Plan are independent plans and the benefits do not run concurrently.

Direct Payroll Deposit

The System uses direct deposit for full-time and part-time employees. Employee's have two options for direct deposit, either deposit through their own bank account or deposit through a US Bank Debit Card.

Education Assistance

All full-time employees are eligible for tuition reimbursement. Part-time employees who are regularly employed with the System and who have completed a full twelve months of consecutive employment with the System are eligible. Employment is considered "continuous" if the employee receives a paycheck in each of twenty-four (24) consecutive pay periods. 

All Lone Star College System for-credit courses are reimbursable under this policy. Continuing education classes that have been approved by the employee's supervisor may also be reimbursed. The System will reimburse 100% of the tuition and up to $100 for required related fees for eligible courses taken at Lone Star College System, up to a maximum reimbursement of six (6) credit hours per term, not to exceed 18 hours in any year.

Educational Attainment Non-Faculty

Non-Exempt full-time employees are encouraged to further their education.  The degree must be completed while employed with the System. The degree must be from an accredited college or university (no trade schools, no certificates, and no licensures). The official transcripts and paperwork  must be submitted by prior to December 31st to ensure this makes the last pay before the fall semester ends There will be a December 31st deadline to submit form and official transcripts.

Employee Assistance Program

Allows full-time Lone Star College System employees and their dependents are eligible to receive counseling and information about personal and family problems at no cost to the employee.  Professional advice is available on a confidential basis from family therapists, psychologists, and other professionals from an established counseling service contracted by LSCS.

The Employee Assistance Program is a confidential counseling and information service for employees and family members which offers short-term assistance, up to five visits in handling personal problems.

Pre-paid Legal Casualty offers you affordable access to an attorney. The Pre-paid Legal Casualty plan is designed to give you and your family affordable access to legal services for your personal and work life. It is your benefit of protection against countless legal matters.

Short Term Disability

The district provides short-term disability to all full time employees of the System at no charge. All sick leave, compensatory time, sick leave pool if applicable and vacation must be exhausted prior to applying for short-term disability. A doctor's written notice is required. Monthly disability payments are equal to 60 percent of the employee's monthly salary up to 90 calendar days. The employee is allowed to apply for short-term disability one time per year. LSCS short term disability is an individual plan and does not run concurrently with the short-term disability under ERS.

Wellness Program

All full-time employees are eligible to participate in the Wellness Program, which encourages Lone Star College System employees to engage in fitness activity. 

Worker's Compensation

Full-time and part-time employees of LSCS are covered by the State-required Workers' Compensation Insurance Program.  The plan provides for the employee to receive benefits for qualifying injuries received while on the job.  Enrollment is automatic when the employee is placed on the payroll.
