Timothy Maynard

Professional:
Mr. Maynard is an active percussionist and educator in the Houston area.  He received his bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University in 2000 and his master’s in applied music from the University of Houston in 2005.   Tim has served on the faculties at the University of Houston and recently served as interim director of percussion studies at Sam Houston State University.  While at theUniversity of Houston he performed with the Moores School Percussion Ensemble at the 2003 Percussive Arts Society International convention.  As a teacher his students have excelled. Many have continuined their music studies at such schools as Northwestern University, Baylor University, Steven F. Austin, and the University of Houston.  His primary teachers have included:  Blake Wilkins, Brian Del Signore, Chris Deviney, Doug Rosener, and Alec Warren. Mr. Maynard has studied classical marimba with renowned marimbist Leigh Howard Stevens.  In addition to a busy private teaching studio, he currently teaches percussion and music appreciation at Houston Community College and Lone Star College-Montgomery in The Woodlands, Texas.
