Strategy 1 - Campus Aesthetics

Implement short and long-term strategies to create a more welcoming environment for students.

Stakeholders: College Relations, Student Success

Status: In Progress

  • Student Success: Changing the name of the Bursar’s Office to Cashier’s Office. Placing new signage throughout campus (colorful). Adding assessment center signage.
  • College Relations: Exploring Digital Signage and working with Facilities for new outdoor flag designs. 
  • Updating outdoor signage. Upgrading the carpeting.
  • Exploring Digital Signage. Reorganization of the Commons.
  • From off the commons you can see the Wings of the campus (NEWS).

Strategy 2 - LSC-Tomball App

Develop a LSC-Tomball specific mobile device app that will be the hub of information distribution for students. This app will provide campus-specific notifications regarding advising, events, campus map, and other pertinent campus information. The concept is to deliver the message to students that “anything you need to know you can find on the app.”

Stakeholder: College Relations

Status: In Progress

  • Meeting with sister campuses to explore two different options. 
  • Utilizing Remind and other text messaging tools recruitment and outreach.

Strategy 3 - Recruitment

To implement short and long-term strategies to enhance the recruitment of students.

Stakeholders: Student Success, Academic Initiatives and Partnerships, Strategic Initiatives, (SEM), College Relations

Status: In Progress

  • College Relations: Investigating ways to pursue students who’ve come, but left.
  • In progress: Targeted messaging to RE-recruit.
  • Data Center and SEM Initiatives. Expand outreach to create PT positions.

Strategy 4 - New Student Orientation

To develop strategies for enhancing new student orientation. 

Stakeholders: President, Student Success

Status: In Progress

  • VPSS Group looking to expand Orientation to include family sessions, and meet the faculty.

Strategy 5 - Registration/Advising

Implement strategies that will enhance registration and advising practices.

Stakeholders: Strategic Initiatives, (SEM), College Relations, Student Success

Status: In Progress

  • College Relations: Registration Plan Developed. Enhanced advising staff and fully committed to case management model to better support students. Embedding pathways into case management model.

Strategy 6 - Student Engagement

To create a Center for Student Engagement that will focus on student engagement and retention through the increased collaboration of the departments noted below.

Stakeholders: Instruction, Student Success, Strategic Initiatives

Status: Not pursuing. Realigning existing department to enhance student success. 

  • If creating this department isn’t possible, I do think we can create some synergy around the departments located in the West Hall.
