CFISD Workforce Dual Credit Programs

Workforce Dual Credit programs are designed to give high school students the opportunity to earn both high school and college credit through career and technical education courses. These programs help students graduate with valuable career skills, and in some cases, a certificate that qualifies them for entry-level employment in their chosen industry.

Students enrolled in a school or district with an agreement with Lone Star College may earn college credit toward a workforce certificate or an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree, depending on the program pathway.

If you are a Cy-Fair ISD student interested in enrolling in Workforce Dual Credit courses, please contact your High School’s Dual Credit Team for more information.

Frequently Asked Questions about Workforce Dual Credit

Dual Credit allows students to earn both high school and college credit simultaneously by enrolling in approved courses. These courses may be offered at the student’s high school, online, or on a Lone Star College campus.

For more information, visit:

Workforce courses, listed as WEC in the Lone Star College Catalog, are designed to help students earn a certificate or an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree.

These courses provide hands-on, career-focused training to prepare students for immediate entry into the workforce. While they typically do not transfer to traditional 4-year universities, some may be applicable toward an Applied Bachelor’s Degree.

Lone Star College Cy-Fair offers a variety of Workforce Dual Credit programs that lead to certificates or Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees. We are continually working to expand these offerings to meet student interest and workforce demand.

Current Workforce Dual Credit Programs include:

  • Architectural Design Technology
  • Business Operations
  • Computer Networking Analyst – Cisco
  • Computer Science (AS)
  • Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT)
  • Visual Communications (Video & Post Production Track)
  • Welding Technology

We proudly partner with Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District (CFISD) to offer Workforce Dual Credit opportunities to eligible high school students.

Dual Credit students receive a significant discount on tuition compared to traditional college students. For current rates, please refer to the official Lone Star College Tuition & Fees Table.

FAST (Financial Aid for Swift Transfer) is a state-supported financial aid program established through House Bill 8 (HB8). It allows eligible educationally disadvantaged students to enroll in Dual Credit courses at no cost. Students who qualify for FAST receive full coverage for tuition, textbooks, and required supplies, making it easier to access college-level coursework while still in high school.
