Lone Star College is an open-enrollment institution and applying is always free. There are a few important steps to take to make sure your enrollment process is done swiftly and correctly. All steps may not apply to each applicant, but It is a great idea to go through the list to ensure that any documents or needs are not overlooked. Step 1: Complete an application with LSC-Houston North!
The application to Lone Star College is offered through ApplyTexas at no cost.


Step Two: Submit Required Documents
Placement Testing
New students are required to submit college readiness scores to demonstrate college readiness in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics.
Complete one of the following options to satisfy this requirement:
- Submit your SAT or ACT scores (within the past 5 years), view qualifying testing scores at the bottom of our Placement Testing page. or
- If you have completed TSI testing within 5 years at another institution or ISD, we can retrieve your scores. Contact Testing Staff for more information. or
- Provide an official transcript indicating completion of college level English or Algebra to our Admissions & Records Department. Your transcript can be sent electronically or delivered in person. or
- LSC-Houston North also uses alternative placement standards approved by the coordinating board. Contact our Academic Advising for more information.

Placement Testing Prep
Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA) for TSI Assessment
- The pre-assessment activity is required to complete the TSI Assessment
- Students are required to complete the PAA and provide a certificate of completion.
- Students can access the PAA by visiting tsipreview.com. Our Testing staff can look your status to see if you have completed the PAA, HN-Testing@LoneStar.edu.
- Once the pre-assessment is completed, students can take their TSI Assessment.
- TSI Exempt students are not required to complete the pre-assessment.

Submitting HS/GED Transcripts
LSC-Houston North make it easy to send transcripts or General Education Development (GED). Students are responsible for contacting the high school they graduated from to request their transcript.

Submitting College Transcripts
To register for classes LSC-Houston North must have official transcripts from all colleges or universities you have previously attended. Once received, it may take 2-4 weeks for your transcript to be evaluated for appropriate credit.
- SPEEDE: Most Texas institutions send official transcripts electronically via the SPEEDE network, please check with your institution.
- In-Person: Drop off your sealed transcript to any LSC-Houston North location.

Step 3: New Student Orientation and Enrollment
LSC-Houston North is dedicated to the success of all First-Time-In-College (FTIC) students. All new students are required to attend New Student Orientation (NSO). NSO is designed to give you the tools you need to be successful both inside and outside the classroom. Participants will also enroll in courses.
- LSC-Houston North offers On-The-Spot Orientations regularly throughout the week.
- You can register for online orientation by logging into your myLonestar portal. Visit LoneStar.edu/houstonnorth-orientation for up-to-date information about our Orientation Schedule. If you have any questions, please contact The New Student Orientation Department at HN-NSO@LoneStar.edu.

Step 4: Complete Payment
- Create an account utilizing a unique username and password.
- Please note if you have ever applied to a college in TX, through ApplyTX, you already have an account.
- The application will ask you to provide demographic information, educational background, and residency.
- Re-submit your ApplyTexas application.
