Lone Star College Medical Assistant program provides students with hands-on training and education in medical terminology, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, processing of medical insurance forms, patient care and health care. CMA course curriculum includes Patient Care and Communication, Clinical Assisting and Pharmacology, Medical Insurance, Bookkeeping and Health Sciences, Cardiopulmonary and Electrocardiography, Laboratory Procedures, Endocrinology and Reproduction, and Medical Law, Ethics and Psychology.
Our program is designed to meet and exceed the state requirements. This certificate prepares students to perform various clinical and administrative functions in a facility which may include preparing treatment rooms for patient examinations, scheduling appointments and maintaining medical records, interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, administering injections, and utilizing equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests. Clinical Medical Assistants are vital members of the team and work to administer medications, assist with minor procedures, obtain laboratory specimens, perform electrocardiograms, provide patient education, and much more.
