SEARCHING TIPS:

The language used in the library catalog and databases may not coincide with the language used in the education field. If you do not find the information you seek using one term, try a different term or combination of terms. Here are some synonymous terms you can try:

Be very specific in your language;  add words such as “public”, “private”,  “elementary”, “middle school”, and “United States” to narrow your search.

 LearningExpress Library—online practice tests based on official exams, including  TExES PPR tests

Professional Development Collection—full text education journals and reports

ProQuest Databases—Articles from journals, magazines, national newspapers including the Houston Chronicle and National Public Radio (NPR) selected programs.

Academic Search Complete—Articles from journals, magazines, newspapers on a variety of topics.

TExES Study Guides

 

TExES study guides are available for check-out from the many libraries in the Lone Star/Harris County consortium.

To find these guides, search the catalog by typing the word “texes” in the Keyword Anywhere search box.

 If you are looking for a particular subject test, such as math, add that subject name in the search box. (eg, texes math* - the asterisk at the end of the word indicates that you are looking for all possible endings to the word—in this case, it will search for the words “math” and “mathematics”)

You can also add grade level indications to further narrow your search. (eg, texes math* 4-8)

If you know the test number, use it in your search. (eg, texes 115)

The TExES study guides are in high demand, and you may have to wait some time for the guide you need to become available. Below are a few websites where you can get a copy of your own:

Study guides can be downloaded for free , or you can order a printed version for $15, plus tax, shipping and handling.

Ed Publishing & Consulting

Extensive study guides available for purchase. Books range in price from $20-$60.
