LSC understands that many of you are facing issues when it comes getting your FAFSA processed, but there is good news. Lone Star College has the experts on hand to help you understand exactly where you stand when it comes to your application.
Here's what we're doing...
1. Adapting Quickly:
We are preparing our staff and tweaking our systems to handle the updated FAFSA information the moment it comes through. We want to ensure a smooth transition for everyone involved. Financial aid offers for the upcoming school year will be made for students who qualify as soon as possible.
2. Keeping You Informed:
Communication is key. Once Lone Star College processes your FAFSA, we will email you with any additional information we may need to award you financial aid.
3. A Helping Hand:
Our Financial Aid team is preparing for a busy season, ready to answer your questions and offer support as we work through the updated information together.
4. What You Can Do Now:
Be sure your 2024-25 Scholarship Application has been completed. Lone Star College offers many scholarship opportunities to assist with funding your education. To complete your scholarship application, visit: LoneStar.edu/Scholarships.

FAFSA Process
Submission
Submit a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) through the U.S. Department of Education. You will be required to set up a FSA ID during the FAFSA process.
Use LSC school code 011145.
Verification
You may be selected for a process called Verification. If selected, you will be notified of any requirements via your LSCS campus email address. Promptly submit the requested information to avoid delays.

Accepted
It takes approximately three weeks to process financial aid applications. Once you have been offered financial aid, you can view your Financial Aid package in myLoneStar

What is Financial Aid?
Financial aid helps students and their families pay for college. This assistance covers educational expenses including tuition, fees, books, and supplies. There are several types of financial aid that may be combined into your financial aid package.
Financial aid is only offered for courses that count toward completing your degree. If you register for courses outside of your program, your financial aid awards may be impacted. Learn more here.
Financial aid packages may include multiple types of awards and must be applied for each academic year.

Step 2
Provide any additional documents if requested by Financial Aid.
Step 3
Accept Your Aid
Review and accept your financial aid package after notification.

Interpreter Services
If you or someone you know requires language assistance, simply call us at 281.290.2700 and ask for an interpreter. More than 240 languages are available including Spanish, Vietnamese, Urdu and many Chinese dialects. Interpreter services are provided free of charge, and all calls are confidential.
